So the whole project sits on that question. It's part photo series, part interview, following an object that's been repurposed into something it was never meant to be, and using that as a way to present a person and their inner world. The point was never to explain why my friend was using a jar lid, but more to ask, why not use it?

The idea: what is life but a performance? Everyone on the stage is playing a role shaped by expectations, norms and pure need to survive, and the roles are split into the one who performs and the one who quietly watches from far away. I asked myself a question, are we performing our own life or watching it from afar? How to escape and actively participate? And can one even do so?

Theatre turned out to be the right place to explore that, because it's literally built on the gap between performer and role, the same gap you feel when you dissociate and watch your own life like it's happening to someone else.

The project leans on the idea of the Theatre of the Absurd, where dialogue loops, actions lead nowhere and everyone keeps performing long after the meaning's gone. The audience waits for some revelation that never comes. And isn't life sometimes the same? No first and final act, and the show sometimes goes on even when no one remembers why. So the images aren't trying to resolve anything, but are rather performing.

I've always been a theater kid that used theater and acting as a form of escapism, so this project was very therapeutic and exploratory for me.

Products of four years of photography courses, ranging from street photography, to collage, sequences, portrait... I can actually do so much more, but I just didn't feel like cluttering this page! :)
