Illustration Collection
Illustration is quite literally my “artist’s origin story”. I began teaching myself how to draw in high school, and spent countless hours drawing, trying to copy Disney sketches, designing my own characters, illustrating TV show characters I was obsessed with at the time. Character design quickly became my favorite way to explore storytelling and emotion, and I always felt it was an art form through which I could express myself fully. Most of my illustrations are inspired by music and song lyrics, and I consider it an undying source of inspiration. At the end of the day, this is what started my artistic journey and ultimately inspired me to pursue art and design, and it remains a discipline that I always come back to.
The Unfortunate Sons is an anti-war poster series I made back in 2023 for my Graphic Design course at uni, inspired by the song "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The task was to create a series of posters addressing a social issue. At the time, I was really into the late '60s/early '70s aesthetic (I was obsessed!) and anti-war activism (still am!), and I wanted to take the visual language of the old psychedelic posters and combine something creepy with beautiful ornaments and flowers. My professor was actually the one who suggested adding handwritten text to complete the story of each unfortunate son, who they were, and who they could've been if wars didn't exist.

I think I might have a little obsession with skeletons. On the left, cover for IBU Kreativ MagaZINE, and me asking through the illustration if art and artists are dead in the age of digitalization and AI.
Meanwhile, The Dragon I drew in support of Bosnia's national team ahead of our match against the USA. I drew it from the heart and I think it came out very fairytale-like.

This illustration series was a product of 3 months worth of anatomy studies of humans and animals, after which my Erasmus Illustration professors gave me a task to combine humans, animals and insects to create original characters and put them in a scene.
Fun fact... I was working on these near the end of my Erasmus in Spain, listening to a lot of Joan Baez and crying so much while drawing because I didn't want to go home. I really left a lot of the sorrow and joy of that entire experience in these illustrations.
